WELCOME TO THE CHOC BOARD!
The CHOC Board was created to be an interactive online resource center and information network for Christian Homeschoolers in the Westside (and general) Portland, Oregon area.
There are two main branches to our ministry. First, the
pages on the CHOC Board's site (where you are at now) act as a Christian homeschool "Yellow Page" style directory with listings of local resources, useful links, and archived help articles. Secondly, our
forums on the CHOC Talk (click
here to go to our forums) act as transitory and time-sensitive classified ads, event announcements, and an interactive message system available to all interested in the homeschool community.
Thus, the CHOC Board includes, in linked run down with description:
- Directory of Local Activities, Classes & Programs lists local homeschool extension programs (academy or co-op based), individual classes & instructors, extracurricular clubs, field trips, museums and historical outings, science & nature outings, physical fitness & sports programs, and student career development opportunities in our Portland metro area.
- Handy Links! lists links to websites we (or friends) have found helpful for homeschooling, sorted by topic and/or subject (check it out--there are a LOT of useful homeschooling tools here!)
Setting Up Learning Co-Ops & Clubs (Ideas to help form a small learning group, extracurricular club, or co-op with links to local resources);
Homeschool 101 (help in getting started with home schooling and answers to our most frequently asked questions); and
Homeschooling High School (help for those entering the homeschool high school years and preparing for college/vocation with links to local career/internship resources)
Our event "
Calendar Talk" forum (hosted by Runboard.com) details upcoming events and date sensitive opportunities in our Washginton County, Portland metro, or extended Northwest communities that would be of interest or importance to local Christian homeschooling families

We seek the CHOC Board to be a useful tool for any Christian homeschooler new to homeschooling, new to the extended Portland metro (especially the Washington County area), or just needing some new ideas and local contacts for the wholesome activities available in our Northwest home schooling community.
