Homeschool Friendly Organizations in our Area

This is a list of organizations in our area that are friendly to Christian homeschool use and goals.

Beaverton Four Square Church Library  This library of 22,000 books is open to the general public. They offer Christian books, magazines, videos, tapes, and cd's for the whole church family. They also have a nice homeschool section and include many Creation Science videos in their video section. Really nice little library!  Hours best for the general homeschool public are Tuesday 11am to 1pm and Wednesday 11am to 3pm. Located at 13565 SW Walker Rd., Beaverton, upper level of the main sanctuary building. Phone 503.644.9104. Call during open hours. (Beaverton)

FiredUp For Youth  This is a unique youth ministry that embraces the whole family in discipling youth to become leaders for Christ in their own churches. "You will find that the youth activities reflect our own conservative Christian worldview. We consider it a real responsibility to provide a learning atmosphere free from the influences that might be found in a similar setting of young adults [including clothing style]. Since this is a family youth ministry we are asking families to help with special events, activities and cleanup."   Weekly meetings are held during the school year on Wednesdays at the Mollala Grange, Mollala. Summer includes social events and mission opportunities. See their website for full details and their schedule of meetings and events. TechShop is a 33,000 square-foot membership-based workshop, located off of Allen Blvd. in Beaverton, that provides members with access to tools and equipment, instruction, and a creative and supportive community of like-minded people so you can build the things you have always wanted to make. TechShop is for all skill levels and also provides classes. We provide an "SBU" (Safety and Basic Usage) class to get up to speed on a tool or machine in about an hour. Or, you can explore with more in-depth classes on any subject to learn about it more fully. Classes are available for members and non-members. Please see our website for more information. Updated June 2011: This organization had closed in Beaverton September 2010, but plans to move to a new location in Portland area and will reopen Fall 2011.
